Red Cities
Marrakesh and Jaipur – two cities in red. In both there are regulations as to which color the walls of the house should have.
In Jaipur, red or pink is the color of choice. In 1876, the city was painted as a sign of hospitality for Prince Albert Eduard, Prince of Wales. Red sandstone, from which Marrakesh was originally built, gave the city the late name „Red City“. Jaipur and Marrakesh, two cities on two continents that have certain parallels in their color, their markets and their mood.
